General
This is the fifth session of the ASEAN-IPR Discussion Series 2021. Held on 21 October 2021, the discussion aimed to explore the initiatives undertaken by different sectors within ASEAN to ensure the participation and involvement of women in peace processes, and to reflect on the implementation of the Women, Peace & Security (WPS) agenda within the region. The speakers exchanged views on the various undertakings of the ACW, AWPR, and SEANWPNM to advance the WPS agenda in the Southeast Asia region. Moreover, the speakers suggest that it is essential to conduct researches on the best practices and challenges among Southeast Asian local communities, especially amidst the pandemic, as these may impact the implementation process. Through this research, recommendations can be made to enhance regional and national mechanisms for WPS implementation.
