The discussion was co-organised by ASEAN-IPR & Royal Norwegian Embassy on 14 July 2023 in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the sidelines of the 56th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting/Post-Ministerial Conference (AMM/PMC). The conversation involved more than 30 participants coming from stakeholders of various backgrounds, such as the representatives of various ASEAN governments and institutions and civil society members. The discussion primarily touched upon the role of women in peace processes, as well as women’s participation/involvement/opportunities in various fields.
Objective
To mark renewed cooperation between Norway and ASEAN on the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Agenda, this event identified entry points for enhancing the role of women in conflict resolution, gaps in evidence, policy making and discuss how national action plans can be designed and implement to take this agenda forward. The activity also identified efforts to build the capacity of a new and active generation of women mediators and women peacebuilders.
