As part of the Institute’s regular roster of trainings and building on the success of the pilot training in 2023, ASEAN-IPR once again collaborated with the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) to co-organise the Training on Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue for ASEAN Officials.
This year’s training was held from 11–15 November in Penang and brought together 23 participants from ASEAN Member States and ASEAN bodies/entities. The training also utilized a Training Module developed by a team of experts and trainers from Southeast Asia, in collaboration with KAICIID’s experts. The module was specifically tailored to reflect the characteristics, needs, and relevance of the region.
Training Goal
- To strengthen the capacity of government officials in ASEAN Member States on interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
- To encourage government officials to incorporate capacity gained from the Training into their daily work.
Objective
- Provide essential knowledge and skills in interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
Offer in-depth understanding and analysis on conflict-violence scenario related to religion and culture found in Southeast Asia as well as its trends and trajectories. - Present, through real examples and case studies from Southeast Asian countries, how dialogue can serve as a tool for conflict transformation, reconciliation, and peacebuilding for religious and cultural conflicts/tensions in Southeast Asia and beyond.
