The ASEAN-IPR in collaboration with The International Dialogue Centre KAICIID, co-organized a Training on Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue for ASEAN Officials, which was convened on 27 November-1 December 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. It consisted of 4 full-day indoor training sessions with an insert of cultural activity and one full-day site visit to local communities in the Bangkok area. The Training was participated by 26 government officials of various religious and cultural backgrounds from ASEAN Member States and Timor-Leste. This Training was based on a Training Syllabus & Modules, developed by Experts from Southeast Asia in collaboration with KAICIID’s Experts, envisioned to be part of ASEAN-IPR’s roster of regular trainings.
Training Goal
- To strengthen the capacity of government officials in ASEAN Member States on interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
- To encourage government officials to incorporate capacity gained from the Training into their daily work.
Objective
- Provide essential knowledge and skills in interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
- Offer in-depth understanding and analysis on conflict-violence scenario related to religion and culture found in Southeast Asia as well as its trends and trajectories.
- Present, through real examples and case studies from Southeast Asian countries, how dialogue can serve as a tool for conflict transformation, reconciliation, and peacebuilding for religious and cultural conflicts/tensions in Southeast Asia and beyond.
