As part of the Institute’s regular roster of trainings and building on the success of the pilot training in 2023 and 2024, ASEAN-IPR once again collaborated with the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) to co-organise the Training on Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue for ASEAN Officials.
This year’s training was held from 1–5 December in Manila, Philippines. The Training brought together 24 ASEAN officials from a wide range of backgrounds—including gender, nationality, religious beliefs, and institutional roles—to bridge the gap between duty bearers/government officials in the region with religious and/or community leaders.
Training Goal
- To strengthen the capacity of government officials in ASEAN Member States on interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
- To encourage government officials to incorporate capacity gained from the Training into their daily work.
Objective
- Provide essential knowledge and skills in interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
- Offer in-depth understanding and analysis on conflict-violence scenario related to religion and culture found in Southeast Asia as well as its trends and trajectories.
- Present, through real examples and case studies from Southeast Asian countries, how dialogue can serve as a tool for conflict transformation, reconciliation, and peacebuilding for religious and cultural conflicts/tensions in Southeast Asia and beyond.
