The Aceh Case: Peacebuilding & Post-Tsunami Recovery

This publication is the outcome of the ASEAN-IPR Research Project: Aceh Case – Peacebuilding and Post-Tsunami Recovery –ASEAN-IPR’s 2nd research project, spearheaded by Indonesia. The research used a triple nexus as framework – examining interrelation between peace, humanitarian aid and development. The research analysed the implementation and distribution of humanitarian assistance such as health, education, economic empowerment and institutional strengthening of peacebuilding and post-tsunami recovery in Aceh, Indonesia.

General objective:

To study the strategy and impact of post-tsunami humanitarian assistance in peace building process.

Specific objectives:

  1. To assess and link the factors of humanitarian assistance in natural disasters tsunami that could contribute to the peace building process.
  2. To identify and document the best practices and lesson learned that could be used as the references for other conflict and/or disaster areas.
