The ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR) was established as an action line under Provision B.2.2 of the APSC Blueprint (2010-2015), which aims to strengthen research activities on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution.

The ASEAN-IPR is mandated to be ASEAN’s institution focusing on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution. The Institute has five functions to fulfil its role, with strong emphasis in promoting a culture of peace in the region.

The ASEAN-IPR’s structure has three main bodies – Governing Council, Advisory Board and Executive Director as head of the Secretariat.

The AWPR is a means to take stock of women experts in peace processes, and the first manifestation of the ASEAN-IPR’s pool of experts.

Officials Launch of the ASEAN-IPR Regional Study on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) in ASEAN

On Friday, 29 August 2025, ASEAN-IPR launched the Regional Study on Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) in ASEAN. The study was developed as a follow-up to recommendations from the ASEAN-IPR–UN Workshop on YPS and aims to provide evidence-based analysis and policy guidance for ASEAN decision-makers on advancing the Youth, Peace and Security agenda at regional, national, and local levels. It also reviews existing ASEAN frameworks and initiatives that promote and strengthen the meaningful participation of youth in peace and security efforts across the region.
