General

The event was spearheaded by the Permanent Mission of the Philippines to ASEAN, and supported by Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund 2.0 (JAIF 2.0) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Furthermore, this workshop aimed to highlight the level of women’s participation in peace processes and conflict resolution in the region and raise awareness of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 and existing National Action Plans on Women, Peace and Security (WPS). One key recommendation from the workshop for ASEAN-IPR is to explore the possibility of establishing an ASEAN Women for Peace networking.

Recommendations

  1. ASEAN-IPR to continue giving women a platform to enhance their roles in peace and reconciliation efforts in the region;
  2. ASEAN-IPR to explore the possibility of establishing an ASEAN Women for peace networking;
  3. To identify appropriate training courses for women who desire to become mediators, negotiators, facilitators.
