Officiated by the Secretary-General of ASEAN, the launch of ASEAN Women for Peace Registry (AWPR) is pursuant to ASEAN-IPR’s function to pool expertise in the field of peacebuilding and conflict resolution – in this case, women experts. It is also pursuant to the ASEAN Leaders’ Joint Statement on Promoting Women, Peace & Security in ASEAN.
The Registry consists of up to three nominated experts from ASEAN Member States with diverse background ranging from scholars/academes, diplomats, and military officers.
Key Information
The ASEAN Women for Peace Registry (AWPR) is a mean to take stock of women experts in peace processes, and the first manifestation of the ASEAN-IPR’s pool of experts. The AWPR aims to contribute to the implementation of the ‘Joint Statement on Promoting Women, Peace and Security in ASEAN’ (adopted by the ASEAN Leaders on 13 November 2017 during the 31st ASEAN Summit), which encouraged the integration of gender perspectives in all conflict prevention initiatives and strategies.
