H.E. Ambassador Dr. Luan Thuy Duong

H.E. Luan Thuy Duong is teaching and giving lectures on international relations, international conflicts, international relations history, foreign policies, public policies, international communication and public communication at the DAV and many other universities. She is also the Vice Chair of the Business Community Integration Committee (of Viet Nam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises; and of Viet Nam Association of Science and Technology), and the Chairwoman of International Cooperation Committee of Viet Nam Association for Intellectual Women (member of Viet Nam Women’s Union).

With the diplomatic career, from 2010 to 2014, she was the Minister Counselor at the Vietnam Embassy in the United States. From 2016 to 2019, she was the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Then noted, the Vietnamese Government has accredited to Dr. Luan Thuy Duong the official long-life title of the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam since 2018.

With the political and scientific research career, she was the former Director General of the DAV, from 2014 to 2016. She involved in all ASEAN Track Two activities: ASEAN – ISIS, CSCAP, ASEAN–EU Think-tank Network; Network of East Asian Think-tanks (NEAT) and Network of East Asian Studies (NEAS). From 2007 – 2010, she was the Deputy Director General of the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies – DAV, and at the same time, was the Chair of Executive Board of Vietnam’s APEC Studies Center – MOFA. From 2005 – 2007, she was the Director of the Southeast Asian Studies Center of the DAV. From 2001 to 2004, she was the Deputy Director of the Southeast Asian Studies Center of the DAV. From 2000 – 2001, she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Japan Institute for International Affairs (JIIA), Tokyo.

Ambassador.
