On 13 August 2025, the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR), in collaboration with UN Women, launched its policy research report titled “Advancing Gender-Responsive Conflict and Crisis Prevention in ASEAN.” The launch was held back-to-back with the Workshop on the Intersection between Conflict and Human Rights: Pathways and Approaches to Peace in ASEAN, led by the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) in partnership with ASEAN-IPR and supported by UN Women, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect.
The report examines key gaps and opportunities in strengthening ASEAN’s peace infrastructure and mechanisms for conflict and crisis prevention. It also highlights enabling factors and showcases examples of meaningful participation by diverse women across Southeast Asia that have contributed to more inclusive and effective prevention efforts.
