The Seminar on the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) in Southeast Asia: Past, Present and Future forms part of ASEAN-IPR’s University Tour initiative, aimed at fostering dialogue and deeper understanding of ASEAN’s key normative frameworks among academic communities.
Held at Asia Pacific University (APU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and organised under the initiative of the ASEAN-IPR Advisory Board (AB) Chair (Malaysia), the Seminar brought together more than 100 students, academics, and practitioners to reflect on the evolution and continued relevance of the TAC.
The programme explored the Treaty’s historical foundations, its role in shaping regional norms and stability, and its adaptability to contemporary and future geopolitical dynamics within Southeast Asia.
