General
This is the second part of the pilot ASEAN-IPR Discussion Series in 2020 that brought together more than one hundred (100) participants from the ASEAN Member States, ASEAN bodies/sectoral bodies/entities, ASEAN’s partners, media, civil society groups, and other stakeholders. Throughout the sessions, the speakers discussed major roles that civil society groups often play in peace processes – which include advocacy, ceasefire monitoring, and dialogue facilitation. Furthermore, the speakers also shared their views on how government and non-government actors complement each other’s work and the factors that support their collaboration.
