ASEAN-IPR Regional Conference on Cybersecurity and the Role of Information Technology in Fostering a Culture of Peace in ASEAN

General

The ASEAN-IPR Regional Conference on Cybersecurity served as a platform for collaboration among experts, policymakers, and stakeholders to develop strategies that strengthen cybersecurity and promote regional peace and stability.

The activity was designed to thoroughly discuss issues related to cybersecurity starting from things that open a window of understanding regarding the importance of cybersecurity issues, to analyse and map the role and impact of cybersecurity whether it triggers conflict or becomes a tool to mitigate conflict. 

As part of the event, several supporting activities were conducted, including a Focused Group Discussion, Social Sips & Bytes, and a Youth Essay Competition.

 

Objectives

  1. To assist in reviewing and assessing the needs of ASEAN Member States to strengthen cybersecurity;
  2. To serve as a forum for information-sharing and disseminate best practices as well as lessons learned from past experiences related to cyber security;
  3. To assist in fostering dialogue between potential regional points of contact of personnel on cybersecurity, in order to facilitate information-sharing and building confidence amongst ASEAN Member States.
  4. To serve as a forum for stakeholders from each AMS to gather and foster collaboration amongst them in the framework of preventing cyber-crimes and conflict prevention.
