FM Retno Officiated Launch of ASEAN-IPR Website & Publication on ASEAN Day

As ASEAN Celebrates its 51st anniversary, the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR) launched its Official Website: www.asean-aipr.org.

H.E. Retno L.P. Marsudi, Foreign Minister of Indonesia, officiated the launch, witnessed by H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Tan Hung Seng, Chair of the ASEAN-IPR Governing Council (GC), and H.E. Morten Hglund, Ambassador of Norway to ASEAN.

In her remarks, Foreign Minister (FM) Retno highlighted that ASEAN has helped transform Southeast Asia from an area of enmity into a region of amity, from a pocket of poverty into a land of opportunity. Underscoring people centrality, she also emphasised the importance to keep the public informed of the work of ASEAN.

The ASEAN-IPR Website is endeavoured to be an educational and communication platform ? to ensure all stakeholders are abreast and up-to-date of the Institutes work and activities. H.E. Rezlan Ishar Jenie, Executive Director of ASEAN-IPR underlined that the Website is designed to be a dedicated, active and engaging platform for the spread and exchange of news and information, ideas and insights about our work here at the Institute.

The Website is developed with the generous support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Norwegian ASEAN Regional Integration Programme (NARIP).

At the same time, ASEAN-IPR also launched its latest publication titled Strengthening Convergences for Humanitarian Action in ASEAN. It chronicles the results and recommendations of the ASEAN-IPR Symposium on International Humanitarian Law, held in October 2017 in Manila ? organised by the Government of the Philippines with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), supported by the Governments of Norway and Switzerland.

H.E. Elizabeth P. Buensuceso, Representative of the Philippines to the ASEAN-IPR GC, presented a copy of the publication to the SG of ASEAN, Witnessed by FM Retno, Chair of the GC, Ambassador of Norway to ASEAN, Head of Delegation of the ICRC for Indonesia and Timor Leste, and Charg dAffaires of Switzerland to ASEAN.
